The Soundwalk (2018)

Sponsor: V2_Lab, Host: PNEK

How does music and the landscape influence each other? This is the main question in Sophie Jurrjens’ work and life. By composing music for specific locations she transforms the experience of going for a walk.

Sophie developed ‘The Soundwalk’, an app that invites urban millenials to go outside and experience their surroundings in a unique and renewed way. The piece is specially designed with software that detects the location of the user, connecting it to a corresponding piece of music. The ‘walk’ creates a distinct reality inspiring the imagination and emotions of the user by sound.

The Soundwalk reduces stress and burn-out symptoms from the urban millenial’s life.*

This project was developed during a residency as part of a Summer Sessions residency at V2_.
