Speculative Rituals of Debt (2024)

The susuk ATM imagines a future where mysticism, technology, and finance connect. Inspired by Indonesian black magic rituals, it transforms the practice of offering sacrifices for personal gain into a digital transaction. This speculative machine blurs the lines between traditional mysticism and modern finance, revealing their shared roots in control, debt, and submission. By exploring how society condemns occult methods while embracing institutional credit, it challenges our perceptions of agency, survival, and power in an age dominated by transactional exchanges.
