‘In Offering’ is the work developed by Nanno Simonis during a 6 week Summer Sessions residency in Cairo, Egypt. The final work will consist of 6 aluminium pins on top of which a large iceblock will be placed. Due to the properties of aluminium and its high thermal conductivity, the ice melts into the pins and slowly leaks onto the floor beneath over the course of several hours. Its title and final act grew from the idea that, in a world of inequality, war and environmental decay, maybe art itself can find most of its meaning as an offer.
This project was developed during a residency as part of a Summer Sessions residency at V2_.
