The Daily Climate Show: Willemskade(working title) is a virtual reality experience that imagines a speculative future Rotterdam. Set on the Willemskade quay, it interprets the impact climate change will have on the city. The immersive experience aims to raise awareness and challenge viewers’ habits and assumptions. By responding to questions about their daily life decisions, viewers can learn about their impact on the future of the city and the planet’s climate.

For this project, the artists consulted with environmental scientist Alberto Bosco to construct a set of actions and decisions that people could come back to after viewing the work in VR. On the project’s website, www.dailyclimate.nl, viewers can see actions they can take in daily life to improve their carbon footprint and learn about ways to participate in climate activism.

The Daily Climate Show
is an ongoing series of projects exploring changes in the climate caused by human activity. Through immersive and interactive virtual experiences, it explores ways of tackling the difficulty of acting and of understanding the impact of climate change.

This project was developed during a residency as part of a Summer Sessions residency at V2_.
